Statements from the Ministry of Health and Prevention on the Emirati Women’s Day

MoHAP Minister: Emirati women proved themselves in all sectors and advanced the country’s civilized and development journey.

HE Abdulrahman bin Mohamed Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, emphasised that Emirati women have exceptionally proved themselves in all fields and made remarkable milestones that turned them into true role models both locally and internationally.

Their achievements would not have been possible had it not been for the wise leadership’s unlimited support and its keenness to harness the country’s resources to empower women in all areas, especially in the parliamentary field, where they excelled and have become an effective partner in the UAE’s decision-making process, the minister added.

Speaking on the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, Al Owais said: “Celebrating this occasion all across the country highlights the utmost importance the UAE attaches to women’s empowerment and reaffirms the leadership’s commitment to promoting their active role in achieving sustainable development. Over the past 50 years, Emirati women have been seen enthusiastically backing the country’s renaissance, thanks to which they are today a global role model.”

“We are truly proud to see Emirati women playing a fundamental role in advancing the country’s civilized and developmental journey. This year’s occasion is exceptionally different as it falls at a critical juncture in the nation’s history, as it boldly embarks on the next fifty years of its life. We look forward to greater contributions by women in all walks of life”.

The minister stressed that the wise vision and directives of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and the “Mother of the Nation”, have been a guiding light towards enhancing women’s status and enabling them to bring about outstanding successes in all fields, now that they are engaged in the decision-making process and are well-positioned to assume responsibilities.

He added that this year’s theme, “Inspiring Reality… Sustainable Future,” which Her Highness launched, reflects the UAE’s success story in empowering Emirati women.

“We, at the Ministry of Health and Prevention, are committed to providing female cadres with a supportive environment to help them prove themselves in various health sectors and contribute effectively to the country’s growth journey as well as shaping its future. We are indeed very proud of all women working in the health sector,” Al Owais said.

Mohammed Salim Al Olama: Emirati women are active partner in advancing the country’s development journey towards greater heights.

HE Dr Mohammed Salim Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP), said that over the past five decades, Emirati women have realized extraordinary achievements in all walks of social, economic, cultural, and scientific life, making them an active and indispensable partner in the country’s development journey.

“Recognizing the importance of women’s role in society, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, and the “Mother of the Nation”, launched this year’s occasion under the theme of “Inspiring Reality… Sustainable Future,” to reflect the UAE’s keenness to empower women and foresee their future,” he stated.

“Thanks to their accomplishments in all national, regional, and global arenas, Emirati women have today gained international recognition as role models. We, at the Ministry of Health, truly believe in the vital role women can play in advancing societies. They have incredibly proven themselves in the healthcare sector and were behind the most wonderful success stories after engaging in the first line of defence fighting the Covid-19 pandemic,” Al Olama further said.

Al Olama concluded his remarks by saying that since the creation of the union, the UAE leadership believed in the latent and creative power of women and has made every effort to empower them and strengthen their vital role in advancing the country’s development journey towards greater heights of excellence, and this is probably what sets the UAE apart.
