NICKELODEON TREASURE HUNT MALTA RETURNS IN MAY

Dubai, United Arab Emirates – 18 April 2022

Velocity International, Paramount’s in-house commercial integrated marketing agency, today announced the return of the Nickelodeon branded experiential tourism franchise: Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta. The outdoor weekend event will run in Valletta on May 28th and 29th this year.

For the first time in Malta, lucky kids (and adults!) will get a chance to follow in the footsteps of some of the world’s biggest stars and get a sliming of a lifetime in Nickelodeon’s Slimulator machine in Triton Square. Other activities include a life-sized Krusty Krab complete with games and a chance to get on the Employee of the Month wall alongside SpongeBob; fun-packed character shows and family entertainment on the main stage at St. George’s Square; and exclusive Meet & Greets with beloved Nickelodeon characters from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, PAW Patrol, Shimmer and Shine and more. To complement these activations, Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta will feature an interactive mobile map, where families will be challenged to find clues at hotspot locations around Valletta and take photos with Nickelodeon characters in augmented reality to save and share.

“The second edition of Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt is landing in Malta and promises a unique, fun-packed weekend,” says Lee Sears, Executive Vice President and General Manager, International Digital and Ad Sales, Paramount. “This experience is an exciting way for kids & families to immerse themselves in the world of Nick by connecting with their favorite characters and making valuable memories whilst discovering how much Malta has to offer to families visiting the island.”

After a networking lunch at Shangri La, the guests were accompanied to the Malta Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, to enjoy an exclusive, private tour of the pavilion and attend the prize give-away of the pre-organized social media campaign that Malta Tourism Authority had organized.

“In the Malta Tourism Strategy 2021-2030 we have listed Family Tourism as one of our priorities for the tourism sector, especially during this recovery period. Having the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt back in Malta is intrinsically related to this priority, and I am sure that once again Malta will be able to cement its position as a family-friendly destination, where families with children of all ages can enjoy a fun, safe and unforgettable vacation,” outlines Clayton Bartolo, Minister for Tourism, Malta.

“One of the niches which we, as an Authority continuously focus on in the Maltese Tourism Industry, is Family Tourism. I am pleased, on behalf of the MTA, to welcome back the Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt to the Maltese Islands, and in particular to our beautiful capital city Valletta. I am sure that this event, being held at the end of May will be an additional incentive for families from all over the world to choose Malta for a well-deserved break with their families. There is truly something for everyone in Malta and Gozo, and partnerships with international brands such as Nickelodeon are helping us to enhance our product, by giving families memories to last a lifetime, and an appetite to come back for more,” says Dr. Gavin Gulia, Chairman, Malta Tourism Authority.

Nickelodeon Treasure Hunt Malta first launched in 2019, harnessing the global power of the Nickelodeon brand and its universally loved characters to drive tourism to Malta’s family-friendly attractions during off-peak months. This Nickelodeon experience builds upon the success of the annual Isle of MTV Malta live music event which helped reposition Malta as a youth travel destination. MTV International recently announced that Isle of MTV Malta is returning for its 14th edition on July 19, with global superstar DJ Marshmello headlining the summer festival.
