BMW Group and Nahda Academy partner to launch first-ever ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ in Saudi Arabia

Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Arriving to the Middle East for the first time, BMW Group’s ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ saw its regional debut during the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, hosting several workshops dedicated to young learners. In association with Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, the official importer of BMW Group in Saudi Arabia, over 700 children completed interactive workshops with the aim to inspire and educate them on the importance of sustainability, future of mobility and road safety.

The young participants gained hands-on experiences through tailored STEM learning activities developed in partnership with Nahda Academy, aimed at enhancing their creative and cognitive skills.

As part of BMW’s sustainability principles of RE:THINK, RE:DUCE, RE:USE and RE:CYCLE, children completed activities such as enduring challenging maneuvers with programmed robots, as well as blending healthy locally-sourced ingredients into smoothies on mechanical bikes to demonstrate alternative use of clean energy.

The importance of road safety was also showcased through a dedicated car crash test site with toy models, where licenses were issued to each learner in recognition of their hard work as a memorable collectable. Road networks (including road signs, zebra crossings and traffic signals) were set up within the premises, giving the children a feel for what to expect when driving a vehicle.

Along with the practical sessions, each participant completed theoretical classes focusing on the future of mobility and sustainability through educational content. Impressed with their learnings, each child then pledged to protect the environment.

Dr. Hamid Haqparwar, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East commented: “I am proud to see the enthusiasm demonstrated by the young leaders of tomorrow at BMW Group Junior Campus in Jeddah. Introducing the very-first ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ in Saudi Arabia demonstrates our commitment towards fostering the skills of the upcoming generation, as we continue to look at new ways to play a role in shaping their future.”

Dr. Haqparwar also added: “Teaching the principles of sustainability and the importance of road safety through interactive, STEM-based learning is at the core of this initiative. For that, I would like to thank Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors and Nahda Academy for their support in bringing this innovative experience to the young learners in Jeddah.”

Ms. Fatima Nagi, Head Principal of Nahda Academy added, “The opportunity to partner with BMW Group and provide young learners with an incredible, interactive educational experience aboard the new ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ was a privilege to be a part of. To offer a comprehensive approach towards understanding the importance of road safety and sustainability through a series of interactive, STEM-based exercises in a mobile setting is something we as educators were thrilled to see.”
