BEYOND IMAGINATION.. DSF RAFFLES AND PRIZES THAT HAVE MADE DREAMS COME TRUE

BEYOND IMAGINATION.. DSF RAFFLES AND PRIZES THAT HAVE MADE DREAMS COME TRUE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 20 December 2023

Since its inception, Dubai Shopping Festival has been known for giving people from all walks of life and from all corners of the globe a chance to win incredible prizes.

Over its 28-year run, thousands of winners have walked away with it all: cash, gold, cars, home makeovers, and more, as DSF continues its reputation as the biggest giveaway festival in the city’s retail calendar. With this DSF – its 29th edition – offering more prizes than ever before, including a whopping AED 1 million in cash, new sets of wheels, and much, much more, there has been no better time to shop, spend, and win in the city of dreams.

How DSF’s raffles and incredible prizes have made a difference

Previous winners have told how scooping one of the countless jackpots in previous editions of DSF has changed their lives, from being able to get around in their dream cars, fund their children’s education, buy their first home, help prepare for the pitter-patter of tiny feet, and even benevolently help those in developing nations or charities in need.

Among the past winners is Federico Felicetti, an Italian national residing in Dubai, who shopped at Festival Plaza and won AED 25,000 dirhams in cash. He expressed his happiness with the prize at the time: “I am unable to express how happy and grateful I am to win. I am expecting a new baby who will be born in February, and I will allocate half of the cash prize to him and donate the other half to charity once he is born.”

Irene Barbaza, a Filipino mother, became a second-time winner at last year’s DSF at the Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) and used the cash prize to educate her young daughter:  “It is a great feeling to win for the second time in the last 15 years in Dubai,” she said at the time. “I am surprised that I won both times with DSMG. Winning a cash prize worth AED 25,000 is very important to me as I will use this money towards educating my children. I am grateful to the campaign organisers for giving us a chance to win.”

Last year, John Ridge De Ala, a Dubai resident from the Philippines, couldn’t quite believe his luck when he heard he was a winner: “I was in Deira fixing my car when I got the phone call from Mr Ali from DSF. I was so shocked, I felt like I was floating. It was so unbelievable. It was a gift from god, this prize is going to help me figure out and navigate my personal finances,” he said at the time. John also wanted to make sure that his good future was shared with those he loved and those less fortunate, saying the lump sum he received was going, in part, to charity.

Sara Al Kaake of Lebanon took home a cash jackpot last year in the ENOC Grand Raffle. “Honestly, I think I was in a state of shock when I got the phone call,” she said upon first hearing about her win. “I acted like nothing had happened and just continued on with my day; I couldn’t wrap my head around it. This is my first time ever entering a raffle, and what are the chances that I ended up winning? It’s surreal.” She said she planned to use the prize money towards a downpayment for a house back in her home country.

Dubai resident Andrei Baluta from Romania, won AED100,000 last year during DSF.

“We got the phone call very late in the evening, which made me really skeptical and I didnt believe that I had won anything,” he said at the time. “I started to believe it once they sent in all the documents and paperwork; from there, I was in total shock and couldn’t believe it.”

Dubai resident Andrew Mwebesa, originally from Uganda, used his winnings last year not just to support himself, but also to provide creative opportunities for children in his local community back home, with his lump sum cash prize helping fund an arts centre for orphans.

As Abdalla Al Ameeri, Director of Raffles and Retail Promotions at DSF, explained, aside from its incredible retail deals, shopping promotions, and an abundance of entertainment, raffles have become a huge part of DSF. “Definitely, winning – and winning big – is one of the most important pillars of DSF,” he said.

He said that DSF continues to evolve and enhance the raffles element each year. “These prizes show how much DSF has grown over the years. Prizes have always been important, but they are getting bigger and better every year.”

Raffles and prizes have swelled in parallel with the growth of DSF and the number of its partners, going from eight malls in its first year to the 21 malls the festival has collaborated with for its 2023 edition.

“My message would be – this DSF, you can win big. DSF is the biggest celebration of winning in Dubai every year – bigger than any other project or festival we have throughout the year.”
