Taste Estonia Celebrates EXPO Success during Estonian National Day Celebrations and beyond

Creating an appetite for Nordic cuisine in the local market and within the Estonian pavilion, Carmen Catering is set to open an Estonian concept restaurant.

[March 2022, Dubai, United Arab Emirates] – As EXPO 2020 comes to an end this month, Taste Estonia is celebrating the success of its presence in UAE by marking its National Day at the Estonian Pavilion, and announcing plans for a permanent home in Dubai for Estonian cuisine, opening in September 2022.

Taste Estonia invites visitors and residents to take advantage of the last weeks of EXPO and explore both Estonian culture and the Nordic delicacies on offer at the pavilion’s café. The Estonian pavilion will mark its National day at EXPO 2020 on March 20, 2022 with a series of events. Activities will be held over four days including a special ceremony at EXPO’s Al Wasl Plaza, with Estonia’s President, H.E. Alar Karis and a business forum for special delegates. In addition, popular Estonian artists will perform at the Millennium Amphitheater on March 19th and 20th

Taste Estonia café will continue serving the delicious gastronomy made from Estonian ingredients best known for their clean, natural, and organic features, throughout the National Day celebrations and for the last two weeks of EXPO itself.

On March 21st, invited pavilion guests will enjoy an array of Estonian experiences, including marzipan painting and a non-alcoholic cocktail workshop with world-class bartenders.

Following the immense popularity of visitors and residents during the exhibition, Taste Estonia café is set to open a permanent venue in Dubai this September 2022. The announcement showcases the opportunities EXPO opens for international brands to establish themselves in the local market and is part of the ongoing efforts of Enterprise Estonia in presenting the UAE as a primary export market for food and beverage products.

  • Run by Carmen Catering, the cafe specializes in using organic, clean and natural Estonian ingredients. Taste Estonia Café has served over 30,000 meals at EXPO to date, with the Generation Y burger – the beef burger with truffle mayonnaise and onion jam – as the top selling dish on the menu.
  • A total of 18,000+ Generation Y burgers have been served throughout EXPO.
  • For the last 1.5 months, the café has sold 460 meals a day, translating to 65 meals an hour.
  • The Taste Estonia café has also catered to over 30+ receptions, having offered Estonian food to over 1,500 people.

Due to the popularity of the offering, Carmen Catering has confirmed they will be opening a restaurant in Dubai, in Q4 this year offering an array of their native flavours to the UAE communities.
