MAX&Co. UNVEILS NEW &Co.COLLABORATION WITH DURO OLOWU: PEOPLE, PLACES, COLOUR

MAX&Co. is delighted to introduce the latest chapter in its &Co.llaboration series. For
spring/summer 2023, the brand has joined forces with acclaimed British-Nigerian designer and
curator Duro Olowu.

Renowned for his compelling use of print and colour, Olowu’s exuberant and expressive collections are lauded for their light-hearted yet confident elegance, earning him an international fanbase among many of the world’s great cultural luminaries.
Drawing on his encyclopedic knowledge of art history Olowu takes inspiration from the work of
Italian photographer Luigi Ghirri. ‘My collection for MAX&Co. is inspired by artist Luigi Ghirri’s
beautifully poetic, dreamy, colourful and vivid photographs of Italy in the 1970s and 1980s,’ says Olowu. ‘I imagined the artist extending his travels to other parts of the world like Bamako in Mali and Saint Louis in Senegal, to capture with his camera the same powerful and captivating sunburnt colour images and vivid moments as he did in Italy;’ creating a collection that evokes the sense of colour and light that Olowu loved in Ghirri’s photography, as well as the feeling of spontaneity and unexpected encounters one feels and has when travelling and admiring things around the world.
The resulting collection, People, Places, Colour, is joyful and confident, made for women who are endlessly curious. Bold stripes, romantic florals and striking geometric prints are spliced together; azure blue, hot pink and ‘Ghirri orange’ evoke a sense of wanderlust. Tailoring, dresses, and shirts are intricately cut yet easy to wear. Designed to be effortlessly and instinctively mixed together, they encourage the wearer to stylishly express their individuality.
“The collection is designed for a woman of any age across all continents, who travels in her head, via her wardrobe, dressed in an interesting and effortlessly adventurous way. I imagine her feeling confident and emotionally attached to the pieces so that they become keepsakes”.
