February 18, 2022

Falconcity of Wonders, Dubai’s iconic integrated complex, has launched the Green Revolution month to encourage people to lead healthy and sustainable lifestyles through the concept of urban farming. Located in the Falconcity of Wonders dedicated urban farming spot, the initiative will take place every Friday kicking off from February 18 until March 11, 2022.

The initiative caters to all age groups and has various activities to engage both children and adults. The aim is to spread awareness about urban farming and equip visitors with the necessary knowledge and skills to practice it and enhance their wellbeing in the Falconcity community.

His Excellency Salem Ahmad Almoosa, Founder and Chairman of Falconcity of Wonders said: “The UAE has been making consistent efforts to increase self-reliance and improve food security and diversity while also focusing on sustainability. The urban farming method encourages a healthy and sustainable lifestyle that promotes community spirit. Falconcity is committed to making healthy and fresh produce more accessible by providing communities with the opportunity to learn more about independent farming and nutrition.”

“It encourages the community to understand where their food comes from, how it’s grown, and connect with those who grow it. Falconcity of Wonders is proud to launch this initiative that will have tremendous environmental and social benefits to the country. We invite everyone to join us in this pivotal step toward building a more sustainable future,” Almoosa added.

The Green Revolution month has a variety of informative sessions to aid independent farming planned out for their visitors, where other innovative and efficient farming methods will be introduced such as, hydroponic farming system where crops are grown in water instead of soil and with minimal effort; the Dronii Dutch Bucket System which promotes how to grow herbs and flowering plants such as tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, brinjals, beans, and okra.

The initiative also plans to hold activities such as open organic vegetables field visit, ornamental plants nursery visit, vegetable seed germination, plants and vegetables plantation, plants and vegetables watering, organic and inorganic soil media preparation, and vegetable packing.

There will also be a session on vegetables and plants disease and pest identification and how to control them, and individualised advice sessions with Falconcity’s greenhouse expert for residents who are interested to implement the green initiative in their villas.
