‘Busan Festa in Dubai’ Showcases Busan City’s Global Diplomacy

Busan, the second-largest city in South Korea and a sister city to Dubai, has been dispatching the “Eurasia Diplomatic Corps” every year since 2016 as a public diplomacy delegation.

The “Eurasia Diplomatic Corps,” which includes university students, cultural artists, and businesspeople from Busan, visits Busan’s sister cities overseas to carry out cultural and economic exchange events. The mission is to promote Busan as a global hub city widely. This year, the delegation will visit Almaty in Kazakhstan, Tashkent, and Samarkand in Uzbekistan before ending their journey in Dubai, Busan’s sister city.

The delegation is hosting the ‘Busan Festa in Dubai’ event on Sunday, September 29, from 6:30 PM at Dubai Festival City Mall to celebrate the friendship between the two cities. The festival will feature performances by the Busan Metropolitan Traditional Orchestra and a Taekwondo performance team, as well as various prize events and activities.

No pre-registration is required to attend ‘Busan Festa in Dubai’. Anyone who loves Korean culture is welcome to participate and enjoy the festival.

Busan is South Korea’s second-largest city, with a population of 3.5 million, and the country’s largest maritime (port) city. Centered around Busan Port, the city has a thriving maritime trade and logistics industry and is a popular tourist destination that attracts visitors from around the world.

Dubai, Busan’s sister city, shares many similarities with Busan. It is also home to the largest port in the Middle East and serves as a global hub for tourism and finance. The two cities established their sister-city relationship on November 13, 2006. In 2021, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their partnership, Busan and Dubai held a joint photo exhibition and hosted the “Lights on! Busan-Dubai” event, where both cities illuminated the landmarks to commemorate the anniversary.
