 BITS Pilani Dubai hosts UAE’s Largest Open Ground Inter-University Cultural Festival ‘Jashn 2022’

–       Makes a solid comeback after 2 years of hiatus due to pandemic.

–       Over 2500 attendees enjoy the ballad of ecstasy.

 Dubai, UAE: BITS Pilani Dubai Campus (BPDC) raised the bar once again by successfully hosting UAE’s largest Open Ground Inter-University Cultural Festival ‘Jashn 2022-Greek Chapter’. Literally translating into celebration, Jashn 2022 proved to be a mega crowd-puller event with over 2500 people attending the 4 day-long fest. Students from 13 universities participated in 13 competitive activities across 18 events ranging from music, dance, drama, fashion, quiz, art, literary, photography and more. The winners of this overall championship were BITS Pilani Dubai Campus. Centering to the theme of ‘Greek Chapter’ the campus was inhabited with Greek Gods and all of the mythical analogies that enlivened the atmosphere and gave it a feel of larger than life epic movie set. The crowd thoroughly enjoyed the fest as BPDC’s ground was filled with the yummiest food stalls, the grandest stage, and the most beautiful décor.

Commenting on the successful closure of Jashn 2022, BITS Pilani Dubai Campus, Director, Prof. Madapusi Srinivasan said,“Jashn has become synonymous with entertainment as it continues to dominate the space of university cultural fests in UAE since its inception in 2010. Our team puts in tremendous efforts every year and I want to congratulate each and everyone involved in making this the grandest event ever. My deepest gratitude to all the judges and the notable performers who graced this mega fest and helped us make it a memorable event. These 4 days have seen some of the best talents on display in areas of art, creativity, and fashion. Students performed to their highest levels and their energy was infectious. At BPDC we ensure that academic experience is complemented by co-curricular activities leading to the overall development of students.”

The event vroomed its way into the inauguration ceremony with the most thrilling line-up of UAE’s unique cars, followed by an electrifying ‘Dancing Duet’ competition that showcased stunning duos on the stage. The Dancing Duet was wonby the dynamic pair of BITS. The winners of the next event ‘Battle of Bands’ were Middlesex University who got the whole crowd dancing and vibing as it felt nothing less than a musical concert. The second day was an energetic extension that began on a hilarious note with Stand-Up Show- One Mic Stand.  After which the stage was set on fire by dance performances in the western and eastern categories that received standing ovations. BITS Pilani students dominated the second day by winning all the competitions.

The third day took the excitement a notch higher with further competitions defined by musicals in solo and duet category and dramas. Heriott Watt University shined as they won drama performances and western singing duet competitions. ‘Save the best for last’ found new meaning as day 4 started off with ‘Perplexed’, a quiz event that was won by fiery and talented BITSians. Photography competition Pixels saw Manipal University winning in the Mobile Photography category. The stage also witnessed a series of instrumental performances won by Middlesex University that created a magical atmosphere at twilight.  But the level had to be raised further as the campus closed the event with an awe-inspiring Fashion show ‘Drape’. With a colossal display of their hard work, the models set the ramp on fire, along with some amazing music to complement them. The Winners of the Fashion Show were BITS Pilani Dubai Campus and Westford University.

Star attractions of the fest were performances by the internationally renowned and popular musician, Sahil Sharma, well known as Zaeden, thefamous Indian comic Harsh Gujral, and the renowned DJ, Rishab Joshi from Lost Stories. While one evening concluded in a round of laughter and splits as Harsh Gujral took to the stage, the other evenings literally lit the sky as flashlights were waving in the air as Zaeden nourished the spirits of the crowd with his heavenly voice and rich repertoire of songs and DJ Rishab pumped the adrenaline with his beats.

JASHN’22 felt the literal thunder of Zeus as it made a solid comeback after 2 years of hiatus due to the Covid pandemic while promising to be grander in 2023.
