Rolex Middle Sea Race 2024 – VisitMalta leads the way with promotional initiatives for the Trade

VisitMalta is pleased to announce its support of the 45th edition of the Rolex Middle Sea Race, organised by the Royal Malta Yacht Club on 19th October 2024.
Visitors to Valletta and the 3 Cities this year, shall get to enjoy much more than just a visual feast of over 100 international racing yachts, leaving Grand Harbour of Valletta between 11:00hr and 12:00hr, as they set off on the 607 nautical mile race.
To enhance the visitor’s experience during the Rolex Middle Sea Race, VisitMalta is proud to facilitate the launch of a nautical themed approach to be adopted by various entities and members of the Trade. Participating establishments shall display sailing inspired décor at their businesses and shall add a nautical flair or titles to the services being offered, which may include specials.
To support the marketing of the members of the trade on their respective advertising channels, VisitMalta has created a celebration poster, with matching digital media assets. This initiative is being endorsed by the Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association, the Association for Catering Establishments and the Malta Chamber of SME’s who are disseminating the artwork as part of a newsletter to their respective members. The nautical themed atmosphere during this time, is further supported by the Valletta Cultural Agency and the Local Councils of Valletta, Bormla, Birgu, L’Isla and Kalkara.
Activities on the 19th October, shall include reenactment parades by the ‘In Guardia’ troupe in Valletta between Grandmasters’ Palace and the Upper Barrakka, as well as In Guardia standing ‘Guard Duty’ from viewpoints of Fort St Angelo in Birgu and from the Siege Bell War Memorial, in Valletta. The traditional Maltese Folklore Band ‘Ta Verna’ shall pay at the Upper Barrakka and at the Lower Barrakka, with compliments of the Valletta Cultural Agency and Sea Cadets from the MCAST Maritime Institute shall line the fortifications at Fort St Angelo, to salute the international fleet of Yachts as they leave the Grand Harbour.
Heritage Malta are offering visitors to Fort St Elmo and Fort St Angelo, a 50% reduction on entry tickets as viewpoints for the race, while the same offer is available at the Maritime Museum. Adding to the atmosphere, is a special opportunity organised by the entity, at Fort St Elmo on the 19th October.
