Dubai, UAE, 17 March 2022— Marking a grand closure to the three-day event, organisers of Dubai WoodShow 2022 stated that Asia Pacific was the largest region in the global wood products market, accounting for 39% of the market. North America was the second largest region accounting for 27% of the global wood products market followed by Africa.

“The wood industry is growing at a rapid pace. With technological advancements, online distribution channel for wood products have become convenient. Additionally, urbanization has added to the demand for wooden furniture products. Changing lifestyles, tastes, and preferences for different kinds of wood furniture is escalating the growth in the industry,” said Dawood Al Shezawi, President, Strategic Conferences and Exhibitions, organizer of the show.

The last day of Dubai WoodShow also witnessed the launch of Wood International Network (WIN), a digital networking portal for the wood, wood working machinery and forestry community around the world. WIN will serve as a powerful virtual platform to enable relevant sectors to connect easily to the industry’s supply chain under one roof.

“This edition of Dubai WoodShow brought to focus new trends, key players, market dynamics and some strategic solutions that is certain to change the face of the industry. We acknowledge the support extended by the participants and visitors and are confident that the show served as a robust platform for them to connect and forge new partnerships,” added Dawood Al Shezawi.

Dubai WoodShow 2022 witnessed the participation of countries from Asia, America, Europe and Africa.

“It was great to be part of this grand show. MTC is a promotional and research council under the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities of Malaysia (MPIC) promoting Malaysian wood and wood products. Dubai Wood Show was an opportunity to help our members network with new and existing timber industry associates, as well as display key products. We have been participating in this show since 2009 and consider the event a great platform to touch base with contacts from different countries, as well as keep abreast with the latest industry trends, technologies, and products,” said Roshan Clarice, Regional Head, Middle East & Central Asia, Malaysian Timber Council.   

The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) that has participated annually in the Dubai Woodshow since its first edition was thrilled with its participation in the 2022 edition. The American Hardwood Export Council (AHEC) is the leading international trade association for the American hardwood industry, representing the committed exporters among hardwood companies, who market and sell their products in significant volumes all around the world. Dubai WoodShow has been a strategic platform, giving them the opportunity to showcase their products and their services to potential buyers, such as timber importers and large joinery/furniture manufacturers.

Commenting on the success of the show, Thibaud Le Moign of French Timber – a trade association dedicated to the promotion of the French wood industry and its products stated, “We represent both the softwood and hardwood industries, and a wide range of products from rough sawn lumber to glulam, engineered or decorative products. We have been taking part in Dubai Wood Show on a regular basis for more than ten years and always look forward to coming back to meet our partners and make new contacts in the region. This year, we showcased two of our members – Ebene Veneer who make special veneers for wrapping and edge banding as well as veneer sheets for the woodworking and furniture industry and France Bois Impregnés that offer a wide range of treated softwood lumber products such as telephone poles and landscaping products. Through our participation at the event, we had an opportunity to develop new clients in the United Arab Emirates and Middle East region, as well as strengthen our customer base in India and Pakistan.”
