Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 25 January 2022 – Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) celebrated another world-record for Dubai with AquaFun officially receiving the Guinness World Record certificate for the World’s Largest Inflatable Water Park.

AquaFun, anchored in the gulf waters alongside the JBR beach, was first launched in 2016 as a physically challenging and exciting obstacle course on the water, designed for visitors of all ages.  As a fun activity that promotes fitness and physical wellbeing, AquaFun has now expanded to three times its original size and currently forms the words I love (heart symbol) Expo 2020 Dubai, which can be seen from aircraft flying into Dubai.  At 42,400 square metres, it is now officially the Largest Inflatable Waterpark in the world.

Commenting on this achievement Ahmed Al Khaja, CEO of Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) said: “To secure another world record for Dubai during such an important event in our calendar, the Dubai Shopping Festival, is a moment of real pride for the city.   Dubai Shopping Festival was launched to boost local businesses and has now grown into an internationally acclaimed event that has successfully raised the profile of Dubai as one of the best places to live in, work in and visit with its huge breadth of experiences.  AquaFun is a great example of a home-grown business that has grown exponentially and now provides a huge amount of fun for the many visitors on the beachside.  We congratulate the AquaFun team for this achievement and are confident that this well-deserved world record title will further increase the popularity of this incredible inflatable water park, and reinforce Dubai’s position as a leading entertainment destination.”

Ahmed Ben Chaibah, CEO & Founder of AquaFun said: “We are very grateful to receive the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Inflatable Water Park. When we set up at this location five years ago, our ambition was to enrich the Dubai Marina and JBR areas’ offering and give the residents and visitors of Dubai a world-class entertainment destination against the mesmerising Dubai beaches and skyline.  To now receive this recognition is an achievement we are immensely proud of.  AquaFun has tripled in size from what we originally planned and the design of the park now reflects a key event within the city – I love (heart symbol) Expo 2020 Dubai which can be seen from the sky.  We look forward to continuing to welcome visitors from across the world to this record-breaking attraction in the heart of Dubai.”

Talal Omar, Country Manager MENA (Middle East and North Africa) Guinness World Records Ltd. said: “Dubai is not a stranger to world records and is constantly surprising us with its innovation, creativity and determination to continuously compete against itself. Its citizens and residents are no different, the determination and drive that we see in businesses like AquaFun is admirable. We are very happy to award them the Guinness World record for the largest Inflatable Water Park and wish AquaFun and Dubai continued success.”
